What a success for the European Liquid Gas Congress 2025, on 20-22 May in Katowice, Poland!
With 1,190 participants from more than 65 countries, along with 92 sponsors and exhibitors, and 46 expert speakers, ELGC 2025 was an opportunity to build meaningful dialogue, foster collaboration and innovation and drive the industry forward.
This year’s edition highlighted the significance of the sector, drawing unprecedented support from various governmental and regional institutions. Among the key supporters were the Speaker of the Sejm, the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship, the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, the Transport Technical Supervision, and the Office of Technical Inspection.
Shaping the future of liquid gases: policy and energy security
The event opened with a powerful statement from Markus Dreier, President of Liquid Gas Europe, emphasizing the need for a technologically neutral policy environment to support the transition to renewable liquid gases. Ewa Abramiuk-Lété, General Manager of Liquid Gas Europe, shared an important message from Szymon Holownia, Speaker of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, emphasizing the importance of inclusive implementation of liquid gases: “The availability of liquified gas and the possibilities for its rapid implementation make not only a means of achieving climate goals but also a tool to combat energy poverty and social exclusion. It is accessible in areas without gas structure. Outside cities live people who have more limited access to affordable, low-emission energy”.
Wojciech Wrochna, Secretary of State, Ministry of Industry, Krzysztof Bolesta, Secretary of State Ministry of Climate and Environment and Leszek Pietraszek, Deputy Marshal from Marshal's Office Silesian Voivodeship also gave the opening speeches of our Congress.
The Congress key theme 'Energy Everywhere' emerged as a blueprint for addressing Europe's evolving energy challenges, ensuring universal access to reliable and sustainable energy.

Empowering Communities: Accessibility, Agriculture & Mobility
The event highlighted how liquid gases can drive inclusive and sustainable energy solutions across Europe. Experts discussed how LPG and renewable liquid gases are already transforming modern farming—powering greenhouses, crop drying, and machinery—while offering low-emission, cost-effective alternatives. By focusing on practical applications, the Congress emphasized how the sector can bridge energy gaps and support communities in the transition to a low-carbon future.
"Modern farming is a critical area where renewable liquid fuels have a huge role to play. Renewable liquid fuels are practical, economic and technically feasible solutions and present low carbon emissions", explained Christopher Goggin, Director of Operations at Rinnai UK Limited at theFORUM session “Advancing Agriculture: Liquid gases in modern farming”.
Leonhard Woessner, Senior Policy Officer at Liquid Gas Europe, stated at theSTAGE session on Heating and Mobility with Liquid Gases: "We should all focus on showing policymakers how LPG is an option that already exists in rural eras, and it's going to be key in the future. We're trying to highlight its benefits and importance in the future scenarios of the energy sector."

Driving Innovation and collaboration: technology and AI in liquid gases
From the integration of artificial intelligence in safety systems and predictive maintenance to the deployment of LPG in advanced industrial and agricultural applications, innovation was showcased as both a technological and strategic priority. TheFORUM highlighted how automation and digital tools are transforming operations, while theWORKSHOPS provided a space for in-depth dialogue on regulatory frameworks, policy alignment, and the safe integration of emerging fuels like rDME. These sessions emphasized that innovation in the liquid gas sector is not only about adopting new technologies, but also about fostering collaboration between industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to accelerate the energy transition and ensure long-term sustainability.
Bartosz Kwiatkowski, Director General of the Polish Liquid Gas Association, kicked off the second day of ELGC 2025 with a powerful message from Dorota Zawadzka -Stępniak, President of the Management Board for the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, emphasising on the exchanges, best practices and partnerships that the Congress brings. Gathering industry leaders, local stakeholders and policymakers, this event set the discussions for the future of the energy sector in line with climate goal targets and the green transition.
"AI is key to keep everything healthy. It can detect microleaks before any human can, predict maintenance, and reduce procedure timing in emergency. AI can reduce leaks by 50% and save lives in millions of seconds. If we partner with the right tools, we shouldn't be resistant to change", explained Mehdi Akhannouch, Director of the Afriquia Gaz Filling Center in Marrakech at AFRIQUIA GAZ.

Remaining… Everywhere: What’s next?
“We heard about how LPG can help reinforcing agriculture, heating and renewable liquid gases. We need clear policy support, strong tools and collaborations within the industry, making sure that our solutions are recognised in the green transition”, shared Ewa Abramiuk-Lété General Manager of Liquid Gas Europe, highlighting the key takeaways of our Congress.
"The full burden of the sustainable transition should not fall on the consumer. We need the financial support from governments and regulations, that could help bring down the prices of bio-LPG for consumers", added James Rockall, CEO of the World Liquid Gas Association.
