Two days full of fruitful and substantial discussions on LPG are behind us. We are proud to have hosted such distinguished guests and specialists in the gas sector. We hope that you enjoyed your time in our region, and those for whom this was not the first visit got to know the new face of our region; and those who visited us for the first time were positively surprised by the diversity and beauty of our region.
For decades the Silesian Voivodship has been predominantly associated with heavy industry and a landscape of mines and steelworks. Today, our region is at the peak of its transformation, yet we do not forget its industrial history. We are opening up to new, environmentally friendly technologies, while at the same time strongly emphasising that contemporary Silesia is full of diversity. It is attractive not only for investors but also for tourists who visit us so eagerly regardless of the season. When visiting Silesia, you will see many historical monuments and beautiful architecture. If you follow the Technological Monuments Route, you will see how much we have changed over the years. If you go to the Beskidy Mountains, you will marvel at the natural beauty of the picturesque mountain ranges, and the Kraków-Częstochowa Jurassic Highlands will treat you to beautiful landscapes. What is more, excellent cuisine is a sign of our hospitality.
For years, the Silesian Voivodship has been one of the economically strongest and most attractive investment regions in Poland. It ranks second in the country in terms of exports and GDP. One of our strengths is our well-developed network of roads and motorways, the densest in Poland. There are six European capitals within a few hundred kilometres of Katowice. From the international airport in Pyrzowice, you can fly to dozens of cities all over the world. It is a regional gateway to the world, not only in terms of passenger flights, but also cargo. One of the pillars of the region’s high position in the rankings is undoubtedly the Katowice Special Economic Zone, which has so far attracted direct investment worth around PLN 50 billion, creating almost 100,000 new jobs. But our greatest treasure is undoubtedly our human resources - highly educated, ambitious and hard-working employees. There are many universities in the region, teaching specialists in the key industries, ready to enter the labour market right away. We focus on new technologies and innovation, and we treat science as an opportunity for further development and passion, hence our support for initiatives such as the Silesian Science Festival Katowice, which presents the entire range of its colours, potential and opportunities. We demonstrate that science is all around us.
Silesia is a place where everyone can find something for themselves and will want to come back again and again. So you are all invited to come to Silesia again!
